Yahoo Group on Clinical Pathways

The YAHOO Group on Care Pathways is an international discussion forum for pathway facilitators or interested healthcare workers. The site has been created in order to support staff working on the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical pathways, also termed critical pathways, integrated care pathways, anticipated recovery paths and CareMaps. Please use the site in order to seek advice, post articles and network. Current membership from across the globe!

Center for Case Management

Karen Zander (left) and Kathleen Bower (right) started Case Management Plans / Critical Pathways back in 1985. They are now leading the Center For Case Management who introduced the CareMap® system in healthcare. Recently they developed a set of critical indicators, for 20 acute DRG’s, which can be used to build your pathway and fine tune your variance system.

The link between the Belgian-Dutch Clinical Pathway Network and the Center for Case Management started in April 2000 with a study visit by Kris Vanhaecht & Herman Van der Mussele. Later Dr. Kathleen Bower and Professor Walter Sermeus gave a joint session on the Collaboration perspectives of clinical pathways during the European Forum on Quality Improvement in Healthcare (Edinburgh, 2002).
The Catholic University Leuven is licenced (license # 80012) to use and reproduce the CareMap® concept.
